November 4th and we set off for Tollymore Forest Co Down with rather a late start and last-minute adventure after cleaning. This has been a location I had wanted to visit for a long time especially being a Game of Thrones Filming Location. The drive was long but beautiful as Co Down usually is scenery wise and a place we intend to visit again when it is safe to do so. The autumn colours of the forest made us feel calm and excited to get in walking and exploring.
We arrived at the car park and made a b line for the toilets after the drive before getting out bags sorted & Hiking boots on. Now instead of following a proper path or route signs we (Tracey) decided to go off the path through trees and down a track which we discovered was a BMX trail, I decided to then follow the sound of the river as I have wanted shots down by it & knew it would lead to a path and of course I was right. The river was beautiful and calming so we decided to get as close as possible for the shots we wanted.
We ventured on with our walk which took us around a longer route as there was a path closed off but that didn't phase us and ended up in a more open area of the walk with views of the Mourne Mountains in the distance. I got a funny photo of Tracey beside horse poo & made it look like she was crapping herself which, I am going to get killed for writing that last part. SORRY SIS hehe.
Onward with the walk we came to several bridges which had been destroyed somehow but found steps down to a waterfall viewpoint, this was beautiful but not close enough so ventured further down and as close to it as we could get to capture our shots but we got slightly sprayed by the waterfall.
As we went further we came across the famous stepping stones & I managed to get a typical long exposure shot of it, We realised they were closed as one has got washed away so didn’t cross them. The overall walk was around 6.9 miles and overall that day I had done 14,098 steps which were nothing considering what I did a few days later. Once we got home we treated ourselves to a big feed out of a Local place called Mollies and it was Amazing & made me more sleepy than I was after the walk.
Don’t forget to follow my Instagram a.mcphotography1 for the shots of these trips, future trips and other projects to come you are more than welcome & if you want to message me about them or anything at all then feels free.
Until next time my friends Please, stay safe, healthy and keep exploring.
