Blog 18 The Glens & Lockdown

Sunday 24th January and still in another lockdown and haven’t been on one of our adventures since January 3rd. The 10-mile limit is proving hard enough to go explore capture and experience but, we will make it work. As I felt like I had done nothing only work/home, home/work we set off today for the Gortin Glens in the snowy weather as I needed to get walking and photographing landscapes.

A friend of mine had been up around the park the previous day and had told me conditions were perfect for stunning shots. So of course it was a no brainer....that's where I was going to visit! The day started great and as you would expect with the usual Maccas coffee/hot chocolate stop then onwards to the Glens. The car park was not overly busy thankfully except for dog walkers and very few bikers. Once we got boots on, bags on and camera sorted we headed for a different route this time rather than our usual one with fewer hills or climbs. I felt so at ease and happy to be out again.

It had felt like a lifetime since our last proper adventure. Fresh air, walking and photography does help cleanse the mind and refresh yourself. #mentalhealthmatters Recently I had been in old habits of eating more rubbish than I should (due to boredom), so now I want to get back to it properly.

As I write this we have our next walk planned (safely within our limit though) and are keen to find more local walks as I would like to be able to inspire and encourage others who would enjoy them and be of help coping with the lockdown.

So, Tracey told me to take some of my old Lego mini-figures with us for photos which was a fun idea & would recommend anyone with kids do.

I just used my phone for those shots and kept my 16-35mm f/4 lens on my Sony a7ii for other shots. I tend to use both devices on our journeys for different types of shots, the iPhone 11 pro I use it for different focal lengths portrait shots of Tracey mainly climbing things.

Don’t forget to follow my Instagram a.mcphotography1 and my Facebook @A.McPhotography2 for all the latest with myself, future trips and other projects to come. you are more than welcome & if you want to message me about anything at all then feel free.

Until next time my friends Please...stay safe, healthy and keep exploring.
