So the last blog I wrote was about the Glens and another lockdown &, to be honest, I haven’t been on an overly big amount of walks lately.
February 11th saw us go to Blackslee waterfall in Lough Navar during some rough weather for one it was still winter & it had been snowing the previous week but, as you know that wouldn’t stop us from going. The walk was a long and cold one up, down and around the walkways of Lough Navar & me hoping the waterfall would be worth it. The sun eventually came out & the wind died down but it was still cold. We had a good laugh when we stopped for photos as Tracey started lifting logs and parts of trees using them as weights.
We approached the waterfall eventually & I was super happy as it was partly frozen still which made for some great shots & long exposures. Sitting on the bench there was tranquil & calming, especially with Jaffa Cakes. Lough Navar is a place I would defiantly recommend if you like long walks and Great views.
February 28th and after two weeks we decided to go to Sloughan Glen in Drumquin County Tyrone. This is a place I have heard a lot about but have never been to. The roads were bumpy but the drive was fun thankfully it was quiet as we arrived somewhat early but as we were leaving more cars were arriving. I was pleasantly surprised by Sloughan as I thought it was going to be one waterfall that we couldn’t even get close to as we had heard it was close off most of the way but in fact, there were around three waterfalls one of which I was standing overlooking for a shot. (DON’T TRY THAT AT HOME KIDS)
The walk is short is and peaceful but knowing Tracey it wasn’t long enough. As we left Sloughan glen we took a drive to the close by Lough Bradan for a walk, another lovely location and depending on if you could be bothered walking far then you have a choice of a short walk or long walk. we mixed it up a little bit but turned back halfway & decided to call it a day.
Back at the house, I began to plan for the following Sunday (7th March) as I had an engagement shoot planned in Drum Manor Forest Park outside Cookstown. I have been to the park several times before but this time we thought it would be nice to go to parts we hadn’t explored. Sunday arrived and everything had been arranged previously. We set off a few hours earlier to stop at Tim Hortons in Cookstown (for my first time) and then drove to Drum Manor to begin scouting out areas and shots.
That only took us an hour so we went back to the car & sat for the last hour prepping my gear and enjoyed the box of Timbits I got. The shoot went well & I even got the drone up for a few shots. We all felt comfortable & at ease with each other & had a few laughs along the way. The day went well & Once home I sat down to edit some of the shots. Overall I was happy with how it all went & the results I got in the end.
for any of you who are interested in the Gear I used and use on shoots are listed below.
Sony A7ii with Zeiss 16-35mm lens (Main Camera and ever day shooter)
Canon 7d MkII with 50mm lens (Secondary body)
