So, we began the third adventure on August 9th in Glenveagh National Park in Co Donegal and I must say it was amazing, to say the least. Even the drive to get there felt very old style Ireland, basically what tourists think Ireland is like through the hills of Donegal with old-style cottages and houses & pubs along the way so I stuck on Rté Raidió na Gaeltachta ( Irish Language speech & music station) to get into the spirit.
Once we got there we prepared ourselves and did the 1st shorter walk which at times felt very Jurassic park Dino Paddock, I was annoyed as I felt we were on the wrong walk heading away from the castle & was refusing to do a further 40 min (3.5k) walk to the castle, but I did it anyway and enjoyed it even though there is a shuttle bus to the castle. we stopped for many photos along the way with some of Tracey being adventurous which is something we do every place we go now. “get a shot of me climbing something today”-Tracey.
It was 10.30 am and I decided to send a message to my friends with the caption Good morning, I always feel that a lovely sunny day with the slightest breeze and the best views and company always put you in a good mood and so it does. We got to the castle after several photos and stops to take in the surroundings and began to explore the grounds with the picture perfect-gardens. However, Tracey discovered she has lost her sunglasses so we set off for the spot she last had them, unfortunately, someone had lifted them but didn’t hand them in.
I didn’t want her form to be so low so tried to cheer her up and went back to the castle Tea room for food & tea/coffee. whilst there I got a notification that I had won another Screenwriting award which put my mood through the roof, of course, I had to have a celebratory drink so stopped at Stateside American Diner in Letterkenny on the way back home. I had waffles with grilled chicken, bacon and maple syrup & of course an Amazing cocktail. Tracey had an omelette which looked more like half a pie, of course, she couldn’t finish it but I devoured mine and believe me I was stuffed. would highly recommend Stateside if any of you go.
we got home in good time that evening and I sat down to a lovely steak dinner thanks to dad, although I do not know how I ate any more after the feed I had in Letterkenny. My eyes were defiantly bigger than my belly that day so I sat for the evening editing my photos from the day before going to visit my Nephew. I slept like a baby that night as did Tracey but was sad to go back to work the next day.
I do hope you are enjoying these blogs, I know I am having fun writing them, there will be plenty more blogs from our past and future adventures, especially now coming into autumn and winter, my favourite seasons which means The Ulster American Folk Park will be due a visit.
Of course follow my Instagram a.mcphotography1 for the shots of these trips, future trips and other projects to come.
Until Next time, Stay safe.
