August 2nd, 2020
Our second adventure began on August 2nd, 2020, a bit of a gap between the last one as I had to work but anyway, we decided the night before that we would drive to Magilligan Point in County Derry, the day started dull but it didn’t phase us. I was still on a high after winning my 1st Screenwriting Award, on the way we saw some lovely scenery and places we could stop on the way back. One particular spot “St Aidan's church & holy well” is of course named after St Aidan although being called Aidan I had to get a photo or two at the sign but ended up getting some great shots around the graveyard and scenery around it.
The walk around Magilligan beach was windy but lovely and we had fun, Tracey even got a cool photo of me beside award-winning screenwriter written in the sand. on the way to the beach, you pass not only the famous Magilligan prison but also a British Army training ground, and when the red flags are flying stay well away!
I still laugh that we only decide these places the night before we go away but even Tracey changes her mind the morning we are due to go which often leaves for a more exhausting day as the walks end up getting longer well… sometimes. Thankfully this was a more simple road trip and walk compared to Cuilcagh & No Hiking boots were needed, which reminds me I do need to invest in a pair just to be on the safe side.
we stopped in Fitzroy’s Bistro in Derry city & the food was excellent, the only downside is it was hard to enjoy and feel safe during the COVID situation as it was the first time since lockdown we had eaten out, but we ate & went shopping & I got Ice Cream in the best spot in Derry “Joe Jacksons” which always brings back fond memories from University with my friends.
I think I would honestly recommend staycations and road trips local now more than ever because we take our own country for granted & don’t seem to explore it too much when it has plenty to offer.
Don’t forget to follow my Instagram a.mcphotography1 and my Facebook @A.McPhotography2 for all the latest with myself, future trips and other projects to come. if you want to message me about anything at all then feel free. I have also started selling my prints Digitally for now which are for sale on this website so head on up to the top & click shop prints.
Until next time my friends Please...stay safe, healthy and keep exploring.
