Blog 5 Marble Arch Caves & Claddagh Glen

September 5th 2020.

The day after my birthday and after what I would describe as the biggest burger I have ever eaten in my life I was not looking forward to a massive walk. We started as you would expect with our Mc cafe Hot Chocolate & Coffee and an early start to Cladagh Glen which is part of the Marble Arch Geopark site and not far from Cuilcagh in County Fermanagh.

We had booked to go to the Caves with another sister and brother in law but our tour not being until after 1 pm and them not being morning people we decided to meet them there and enjoy the Glen first.

I decided to use my phone for the photos this time around as I wanted to try some long exposure shots with it. The glen was surprisingly lovely & peaceful with the sounds of the waterfalls and wind blowing the trees. Tracey was even shocked to see me run at certain times & to be honest, so was I. Cladagh glen is a walk I would recommend to anyone to do especially for headspace and photo opportunities.

We got back to the car & decided to drive on to the Caves to get some lunch & check-in before our sister arrived, so again Tracey had another Coffee & this time I had tea & a sandwich. we explored the gift shop & saw some lovely stuff but didn’t buy it so just sat waiting for our tour to begin. 1.25 pm arrived and we were led into the pre-tour meeting room & explained about the tour and the Social distancing in place before we set off.

The walk down to the caves was lovely & we had a Great guide called Joshua, he answered any questions we had and was very accommodating for me when taking photos. The tour lasted around an hour and we were lucky to get on the tour as the rainfall had been massive during the days previous and I would highly recommend checking with the Tours before booking as they may be flooded and unable to run.

it is nice going on adventures with others from time to time but do love the early starts as you get to fully enjoy the whole day. Another benefit is there is not many crowds of people during these times which helps. This blog and the next few have been in Co Fermanagh & Tyrone Mostly and will be for a while Partly due to COVID but also because we aim to visit all the Geo parks with possibly 5 done already!

Don’t forget if you want to follow my Instagram a.mcphotography1 for the shots of these trips, future trips and other projects to come you are more than welcome & if you want to message me about them or anything at all then feel free.

Until next time my friends Please, stay safe, healthy and keep exploring.
